Local Updates of Bali

A teacher of an elementary school in Bali, Made Rediana, 39, co-stars in a film adaptation of the blockbuster memoir Eat, Pray, Love starred by the Pretty Woman star Julia Roberts, Javier Bardem, and Billy Crudup. “I’m surely glad of it. Although I will only take part as a supporting actor, but I’m proud of playing in a movie with foreign actress,” said Rediana.

Rediana is a rookie in the movie industry. In addition, in the film, Rediana will act as a fisherman. “It’s quite difficult. I’m a teacher and I should act as a fisherman in this movie. I must certainly learn a lot of things,” he said. Rediana said he will not waste the rare chance.

Rediana is not playing alone. He will have a peer of masseurs, hawkers, and sea-weed sellers around him in the movie.

Rediana said he played a challenging role in the movie. He said that at one take he should bath in the sea between 7 pm and 11.30 pm, with a break of every 20 minutes. “You can imagine this. I should get on-shore after some time in the sea to dry my body. Then I was told to get back to the sea while my body is not totally dry yet,” he said.

Rediana refused when asked about his payment. “It’s not a matter of the money. The most important thing is that I get the experience of playing in a Hollywood movie as well as introducing the Indonesian culture.”
