BDF Agreed Monitoring General Election
Countries in Asian territory as the members of Bali Democracy Forum (BDF) agreed to develop general election monitoring program in every member countries to know the democracy development in each country.
This general election monitoring program until today is still under discussion related to the concept and its program mechanism.
The Minister of Foreign Affair, Marty Natalegawa in his statement after the BDF’s closing meeting in Nusa Dua on December 11th mentioned about the implementation of general election monitoring program in each country is hoped can be realized immediately.
One of its initial targets is monitoring the next Myanmar 2010 general election. This general election monitoring is still waiting for the agreement from Myanmar government itself.
“We want as constructive as we can it makes us wait for Myanmar government’s decision, so we will participate in term of monitoring action, if we, in fact is needed by Myanmar to get involve due to the success of that general election itself” said Marty Natalegawa.
Ministry of Foreign Affair Marty Natalegawa asserted that now it becomes Indonesian government task to coordinate the results achieved in this Bali Democracy Forum meeting. Includes within it is the realization of Japan Prime Minister suggestion, Yukio Hatoyama to make this general election monitoring become a real program.
