A plan to transfer the function of City Terminal at Jalan Kebo Iwa Gianyar into a sport center area received conditional support from the Regional Council Members of Gianyar Regency. An idea from Gianyar Regent, Tjok Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati is considered as a positive step. It only needs to suit Gianyar condition.

Member of Comission B Gianyar Council, I Nyoman Suryawan on Monday (March 1) yesterday gave his appreciation toward the sport center establishment idea which will use terminal area. Fund support to build this sport center area is estimated would not burdening the local budget. “Local budget condition today is still in critical state and not to make that idea adds this though condition,” he explained.

Moreover, he also said that the council had welcoming well this plan as long as what will be built there will give contribution for the people and regency. Especially when the area used for the sport center was a redundant area.

But it is better if before built it, the regional government really conducting thorough study toward that idea. So it will not done haphazardly and make the everything worsen than before. Since establish a sport center is not an easy task to do. From the study, the concept and model as well as supporting facility should be clear.

Makes this area could become a public appeal which in the end will also give some contribution. “As when build skateboard area that could be followed with renting area,” he explained.

As reported previously, Gianyar Regent by seeing the condition of redundant area at Terminal Kebo Iwa had all along want to transform its function into a sport center. From a comparative study to Surabaya, Gianyar still consider the model for their sport center suitable build in Gianyar.
