Denpasar Lack of Coast Guard Officer
Head of Denpasar Tourism Agency, Putu Budiasa said that they still lack of existence of coast guard officer in this city.
“Denpasar merely has 15 coast guard personnel guarding over more than 10 kilometer long coastline,” he said in Denpasar, Wednesday.
Moreover, he also said that until today those coast guard officers did not have adequate equipment.
“Less of personnel and has no adequate equipment, in the future we have to try to accommodate more equipment and adding the personnel,” said this man.
He explained that with that long of coastal in Denpasar, more than 10 kilometer, Denpasar should has 20 coast guard officer, but until today his party not yet adding personnel due to the fund limitation.
“Ideally, looking through the Denpasar beaches need, we need 20 coast guard officers,” he said.
It is said that until today some beach area, such as Serangan Beach is really in need of coast guard officer. This beach area starting to get crowed that most of them come to have surf.
“We planned for added one more post in this area with five coast guard officer,” he said.
Budiasa says his party recorded that until today the coast guard officer merely has one boat from fiber to watch over the whole area of Sanur Beach.
“We did not have rubber boat, but soon we would propose for additional equipment,” he said.
Furthermore, those 15 personnel of coast guard officer only have one post at Sanur Beach.
“For another beach,, such as at Padanggalak, we did not make post there since there is no one is allowed to swim there,” explained Budiasa.
Compared with Badung Regency, he continued, the existence of Denpasar coast guard officer left very far behind. Nowadays, their Badung coast guard officer has 125 personnel divided into 18 posts watching over 80 kilometer coastal line.
“Moreover, Badung coast guard officers also completed with supported equipment such speed boat, rubber boat up to ambulance,” said Budiasa.
