Simantri Synergized With IPSA to Realize Bali Organic Agriculture
In his effort to realize Bali organic agriculture, Bali’s Governor named Made Mangku Pastika indicated the integrated agriculture system (Simantri) will be synergized with the institution of development and natural resources research. Governor and the leader of SKPD observed the Institute of Natural Resources Development (IPSA) belongs to Pak Oles in Bengkel Busungbiu Village, Buleleng to realize this idea at Saturday (21/8). The Governor attracted to go to this institute because he heard the program of Bali called clean and green made people comes to him to offer a cooperation to realize Bali organic agriculture. “Why we don’t use the available potential in Bali?” it is the impression appears when we visit IPSA owned by Dr. GN Wididana or Pak Oles in Bengkel village. This chance used by Pak Oles to describe the activity in IPSA. The first step is education and the EM (effective microorganism) technology training in the efforts to educating people through organic agriculture. “We can give theory and practice organic agriculture here, then watching the example of organic agriculture directly,” he said.
The fact is it has been a long time some agriculture ministries from Malaysia and Thailand visited his IPSA. “When outsiders learned organic agriculture, we have to follow them although in reality, this kind of agriculture has been existed here for a long time,” he said. The real prove of organic agriculture be watched by Governor with his followers at that time. If we had taken 2 farmers in every village to be trained organic agriculture in IPSA, next they will teach the other farmers. They can make liquid or solid fertilizer which is used for organic agriculture.
The Governor of Bali indicated they will be trained at least 2 farmers in each Gapoktan Simantri. If there’s 50 Gapoktan Simantri in Bali, at least in first step they have 100 farmers to train as pioneer of organic agriculture. At least from the training, farmers can make solid fertilizer from the cow’s feces with EM technology. It is also resolved the rarity of inorganic fertilizer like urea.
The organic agriculture has been chosen to develop in Bali, because this way is eco friendly to conserve Bali continuously. In the visit to Buleleng, the group of poultry and fish visited by the Governor. They are lele fish group farm, cow farm, and others which is joint in Simantri. For example in Munduk Lingkar Nadi, the Governor surveyed Gapoktan Sumber Tani Utama. This farm nurtured 20 cows since 2 months ago when Simantri has been introduced. From the research, not only the cow can be used but also the feces can be recycled. The urine recycled to bio urine to fertilize the plants even the solid waste can be bio gas for cooking.
According to one of group member named Wayan Sriantini, the biogas from 20 cows able to cook in 5 family kitchens. The gas accommodated in a tank near the stall flowed through plastic hose which is connected to modified gas stove. “It is safe from explosion because of the long distance of gas source,” she said. She have not counted how long the stove can be used the important thing is the available of cow feces. “As long as the cow feces available, the gas must be fixed,” she said.
